Your Instructor
Hi! I’m Julie Mendez, a homeschooling mom to two girls, and also a Career Coach and Certified Job Search Specialist with my own business, JSM Career Coaching (www.jsmcareercoaching.com). We have now been homeschooling for seven years, and currently live in the Washington, DC area, which might change as we often relocate due my husband’s career in the Foreign Service. I have been a Working While Homeschooling parent from the beginning!
After seeing constant requests for help finding work-from-home opportunities in groups online, and often being asked for career tips and advice from other homeschool moms, I can finally combine my passions: homeschooling, supporting women (homeschooling mothers), and career coaching under a new umbrella, Working While Homeschooling.
My goal is to encourage all job seekers, homeschooler or otherwise, to identify their dream and pursue it with ingenuity, passion, and determination. I believe my calling is to aid others in finding fulfilling work that utilizes their unique talents. One of my greatest rewards is hearing from excited clients about that new job offer they just received!
I have three coach-related certifications, ten years as a Career Coach, five years in the recruiting industry in both New York and Washington, DC, and a degree from New York University. In addition, my background includes a bit of a gypsy lifestyle following my spouse’s career around the world, and even a stint working as the Community Liaison Office Coordinator at the US Embassy in Rome, Italy. My background has given her a unique perspective into the recruitment process and the job search strategy that gets a jobseeker back to work (in a job they love) quickly.
I am also a regular Event Speaker for multiple organizations including national career networking sites, regional career groups, employment-related teleseminars for US Embassy communities, and teleseminar presenter for the National Resume Writers Association
